Hello, I have a 1982 air cooled vanagon Federal model. The reistance across the wire that runs from the coil to distributor is about 11,500 ohms. According to Bentley 28.4 Fig. 2 the resistance should not be greater than 2400 ohms on the Federal model. Bentley 28.10 Fig.2 states that the resistance should not be greater than 12000 ohms for the California model 1982 Vanagon. It appears that I have the wire for a California model! Bus Depot carries plug and coil wires, but does not discriminate between Federal and California versions (same with Bus Boys). Has anyone else had experience with this? Is there a misprint in my Bentley? I have the July 15, 1991 version. Thanks, Jake |
