anybody tried the local truckstop antifreeze? shell makes one called Rotella (same name as their long-life motor oil) that has claims of 600,000 miles (in a truck) or 12,000 hours. http://www.shell-lubricants.com/products/pdf/RotellaELC.pdf and http://www.rotella.com/products/rotella-elc.html now the Gotchas ... 600,000 miles in an 18-wheeler is ...<drum roll>... about two years. hmmm. just about the interval we're supposed to be replacing our antifreeze anyway! ;) maybe just a co-inkydink. i do notice that the blurbs mention that you do NOT have to have a filter on the cooling system, and in fact, mention that you should bypass the filter when using this product. anyway, nobody mentions how much it costs. if it's cheap enough, it might be a local supply that we could use. most towns have some sort of truckstop or truck repair place nearby. anybody tried it? unca joel |
