Having decided to be better prepared on the road I am putting together a collection of spares to take along. Mainly trying to address break-downs that can be diagnosed & fixed in a campground, rest area, Wal-Mart parking lot, etc. Looking for suggestions to add to the list. Can't take everything but here is what I have accumulated so far... Fuel pump + clamps Fuel filter 18" of fuel line + clamps ECU Coil Ignition module Temp 2 sensor Valve adjustment screw Valve cover gaskets (2) One spark plug wire (long enough for any plug) Distributor cap (just because I have one) Expansion tank cap (also just because I have one) Alternator belt Of course I'll have lots of other non-VW stuff (stopleak, sealants, extra wire, tools, etc) but mainly I'm interested in suggested take-along parts. Yes, I know many travel with just a cell-phone & AAA card... but most of my travel is in remote areas where such things are not immediately helpful -- plus I prefer to be somewhat self-reliant. Geo H
