Well, our summer trip was an unqualified success. :) I will be posting a write up and pics soon, but for now:

Left Vancouver, July 22 overnight in Golden, BC two nights Calgary one night Kindersley, SK two nights family renunion near Kelvington, SK one night Regina, SK remaining nights, July 29 to Aug. 8 through Montana, taking the #2 (Hi-Line) most of the way, Going to the Sun Road through Glacier Park, MT, and finishing the rest on the #20 through the North Cascades in Washington.

Lots of mountains, which the '81 Vanagon Air-cooled Westy, :) , handled just fine. Slowly at times, but fine.

Used 2 litres of oil on the whole trip. (Castrol GTX 20W-50 if you're curious) :)

Had a great time.

Wish I had 3 more weeks to travel.

Take care, Phil

p.s. George, you were right about it being a great route.
