Subject:      backfireing ---stumbleing,stalling and worse,when cold

Backfires all the time. Like a gun .This has been getting progressively worse,since I had me emissions checked,last month. I  removed the air filter to get the emissions checked. The AFM was removed,to do this. I have checked the o2 senser by disconnecting it. No change. The timing and exhaust are fine. Any ideas?


  I noticed little slots where the vaccum advance attaches to the distributor,on the1.9. Is this for an adjustment? Maybe I can get a difference  vaccum advance with proper timing by adjsuting ?
