Sounds about right to me. I'd guess the ohms measurement of the 12 volt element in the 1-2 ohms range, not zero but close by most standards. The 120 volt element, maybe 150 ohms, roughly.

I've fixed a couple that had very dark connectors from overheating on the 12 volt wiring. I've never seen one that didn't work on 120 volts, but if used more in that mode failures would be more likely. I think many fridges unknowingly get left on 12 volts for years at a time, and the wiring ages from this, since the fridge is thus on whenever the engine is running.

I have used Vasoline on the pump.
