OK here is something I just discovered today. During the months of January to March of 1983 Volkswagen went from using a 228mm flywheel and clutch system to a 215mm. Before this three month period they used a 228mm system and after this three month period they went back to it. After selling hundreds of clutch kits over the years I had never ran into this info before today. That's right, I sold what I thought was the "one-size-fits-all" clutch kit to a customer who just so happened to have an 83 Vanagon manufactured during those three months. Clutch kit is too big he says. I look it up in the parts computer to find that he is right! Another wacky Volkswagen moment. Why would they change and then change back? Maybe they were temporarily taken over by aliens? You learn something new every day.
