I just bought my hatch rack from Gary this spring. It was expensive, and the shipping was expensive, but dang if it isn't a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. It is really well constructed, solid and sturdy on the hatch, and looks great, as if it is the kind of thing VW would have put on the vanagon if they would have thought of it. Also, Gary is great responding to any email questions you have and I like that he has so many options, so you can get the rack that is going to work for you, rather than some pre-made store option. I already had an extra set of Yakima bike rails, so it was perfect for me (got the hatch rack with fold down shelf and bike load bars extension). I agonized over the price of the rack for two weeks, but I'm really glad I got it. I highly recommend Gary's racks, if you've got the cash.
