Hi Robert, welcome aboard.
I can't help re: the CD - I don't have one - and I prefer books anyway.
Nothing like sitting in the seat of your van, coffee or beer in hand,
reading the book to solve the problems. Can't do that with a CD..
Anyway.......Bus Depot carries a Haynes Manual on the Vanagon. I have
it, and while it is a very good book, it does not replace the Bentley
manual by any stretch. Get the Bentley - it is the official Vanagon
Service Manual. And supplement it with the Haynes manual. I have never
seen the Haynes manual sold anywhere but through Bus Depot, and Ron
Salmon there has to import it from England to even have it to sell. Do
yourself and him a favor - buy the book. It's worth it.
Regards clutch replacement - I've not done one meself, but I've had it
done. Be sure the flywheel face is machined true before re-installation,
and have a new flywheel seal installed. (main seal). Any time I have the
clutch assembly out, I always have a new throw-out bearing install.
Cheap insurance.
Regards the OX light - if it is on, and stays on, you need to simply
drop the spare tire and cover, follow with your hand the speedo cable
from the left front wheel to a box above the spare. On top of the box is
a button in a detent. Press this button with a screwdriver. That will
reset the light and it shouldn't come on for another 60 thousand miles.
It is simply a warning light that you have driven 30-60 K, depending on
the year of vehicle manufacture. The OX
sensor is supposed to be serviced (replaced) about then. But nothing is
going to fall off, quit working, or whatever, right when the light comes
on. As I said, it is only a warning light for service.
Regards,
John Rodgers
