www.CIP1.com has some air intake manifolds & carbs for the air-cooled. I've been told that these do not fit water cooled engines, but I'm not the expert.

I have been running a carb (first a Solex and now a Weber) carb on my 91 syncro westy for the past 9 or 10 years and I have come to perfer it: what power there is, is RIGHT NOW when you put your foot down. And carbs doon't fail the way EFI does, carbs give one about 1,000 miles warning (rough running) prior to shutting down the van. I get about the same gas milage as other EFI syncro westies.

Down side is, there's a bit more air pollution, and if there are emmission tests in your state/provence, a carb'ed van might fail.

FWIW, my carb'ed 91 syncro westy is for sale, and the '89 van I'm replacing it with, I might just take off the EFI and put on a carb. Malcolm (Halifax NS)
