Last weekend I took the syncro westy from NJ up to NH, to let it stretch its legs with the new svx engine. It ran great! Hans and John at East Coast Vanagon did the conversion for me, and it came out looking first class. Its really a pleasure passing people going 85 up hills. I do need to remember the vanagon is not a stealth vehicle, and cops won't appreciate that speeding is a form of self-expression and liberation! I didn't go on anything rougher than some manky dirt roads, but it was still a blast, and I had fun spending time in the woods with friends. Its also now sporting SA headlights, a rebuilt transaxle, schwenk springs with OMEs, SA front brakes, projekstwo fog lights and a decoupler, so it feels like a whole new vehicle..

Where in the Whites were you off-roading? I'll be back up there in two weeks, on the north tip of Winnepesaukee. If I can escape the family (a rather big if, it is a family weekend) I hope to go sample the trails.

ciao rob
