Just got back from a whirlwind 9 day trip from Winnipeg to Ottawa, Montreal, and the bustling metropolis of Red Bay, Ontario on the shores of Lake Huron. Beautiful weather, good scenery, nice people. I didn't take the Westfalia this trip - not enough time and the gas would've hurt. Anyway had quite a few Vanagon sitings - one brown Westfalia in Schreiber, Ontario with Manitoba plates (I thought I knew everyone with MB plates), then a nice light coloured Ontario Westfalia with the vanity plate "Vanagon" in Lake Superior Provincial Park. It was late so I didn't knock on the door, but it looked like a nice unit. Someone on the list perhaps?

On the way home last weekend I saw a Westfalia with Florida plates in Wawa, Ontario and then a nice blue Syncro Westfalia in Neys Provincial Park on Lake Superior. In between there were half a dozen vanagon and bay westfalias. I don't think anyone noticed that I waved from my 2003 Beetle. The trip was definitely faster (and cheaper) but wasn't quite the character building experience of the Westfalia. Next year.
