That hatch door could be a "coachbuilt" custom done in Germany. There were many outfits like Westfalia for instance that did a number of custom body building variations for the commercial Type 2 and not just campers alone.

After celebrating the 30th anniversary of my divorce acouple of weeks ago (she took me for almost everything except my 73 K Ghia I bought new), I often find myself NOT missing a GF or SO ;-) I always figured it was a normal thing for me to be alone......My sister has said on many an occasion that I will never have a GF or SO because I'm just too sensitive and nice of a guy (yeah, right - I can hear the guffaws permeating and reverberating all through the T1 and Broadband connections now). My philosophy is "It's their loss". My motto: "Friends Only, period". Besides, after the first fiasco, I realized true love is always unrequited. My best relationship in the past 30 years was with my cat (may she rest in peace). -- Jim Thompson 84 Westfalia 2.1 "Ole Putt" 73 K Ghia Coupe "Denise" 72 411 Station Wagon "Pug" oldvolkshome@gmail.com http://www.oldvolkshome.com **********************************
