Sure,  Havent tried it on a VW, but it worked great on all my other cars
(Including a Mazda RX-7).   I used a CraneCams Hi-6 and found smoother idle,
one or two MPG, and slightly more power.

Gotta warn you though, it's very hard on the spark plugs!
