John, Thanks, I am a bit overwhelmed... the wiring harness is different colors, from the Hayes or the Bentley... The oil sender wire is just completely gone...? I think in my mind, too many folks have worked on it. before me..? I guess I'm trying to figure out where is a basic place I can start, and work out from there. That's why I was trying to isolate to a simple vacuum arrangement to get it started. I have fixed a lot of things, believe me, you just wouldn't believe the repairs of visible things, I have done before now. I think I was not aware when I bought it, things could get so out of control. Right now I'm out trying to get that water pipe back on behind the crankshaft pulley. I will make a bracket like in the Bentley to break the bolt loose on the crankshaft pulley. Then I will concentrate on fire and getting it running a little, then I will probably have to pull the driver's side head off, to replace the head gasket. Thanks for your help. Lyle Lathem 1985 Vanagon GL Never heard it run, but I'm workin' on it..!
