1 US Gallon (UK Gallon is extinct as the UK and the rest of the British Commonwealth uses the metric system... along with the rest of the world including the US military and US scientific community) is 3.78 liters.

8 to 11 l/100km is 29.4 to 21.4 "state side" mpg

My experience is 8 to 9L per 100km up to 100km/h and 10L per 100km up to 120km/h

to put this in more anglo-centric measures (based on 1 gallon = 4.55 litres and 1 mile = 1.61 kilometres):

1.9L TDI:--25.7 to 35.3 mpg (avg 29.7 mpg) V6 TDI: ---21.7 to 28.2 mpg (avg 24.6 mpg)
