The positive connection can be made at the rear altenator nut(large one). Ground is the alt bracket. Remove the number one sparkplug wire from the distributor cap.Stick a long screw into the cap hole,head first.Stick the plug wire to the sharp end ofthe screw,and clip your timing light lead to the screw.I think timing is the mark on the first pulley and two case halves. unplug and connect the two pieces of the idle stabilizer together (if pre 86),and plug the vaccum line.Get your idle right,first(950rpm).
