Subject: LVC: OEM VW Keyless Entry
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

OK, so here's my latest hare-brained scheme: a customer gave me a keyless entry remote with the little flip-out key for his 2002 Passat which got totalled. I easily trimmed down a Vanagon "N" key blank to fit it, so now I have a flip-out key for my money-pit, just like the cool kids with their GTI's. So now I'm eyeing the Lock-Unlock-Trunk buttons on this key thingy. Am I looking at a can of worms here, or is it possible to just pull the Convenience Control Module from an appropriate-era VW and just wire it up, program it for the remote and go? Or am I looking at an electronic nightmare best left alone? My alternate plan is to shoehorn the guts of an aftermarket remote into the OEM VW one, but the space is REALLY small.
