Subject: Back from a boring 2500 mile vacation trip to Maine and Vermont.

Well, it was boring if you want tales of syncro/vanagon woes.

Everything worked, though I think my driveshaft u-joints are getting a little noisy. Engine ran nice and cool, never passed over the halfway point of the temp led regardless of running a/c, stuck in traffic on 95, or climbing around two-track in the White Mountains in granny gear.

The compartment under the rear seat was filled with everything up to my 1/2" sockets, Bentley and Haynes, dunnage and spare parts. My wife said it was a waste of space but I figured if I was prepared I wouldn't have problems - and so it was.

First we headed up toward Lubec Maine, jaunted across the border to Campabello, where I met Nat from Vermont and his nearly identical silver Syncro Westy. After much time mucking around in the area, clamming and blueberrying, we headed for Vermont and slowly worked our way south after first crossing over to Burlington.

Left Jamaica VT about seven this morning and was back home after a relaxing 9 hour drive. Passed the 105K mark on the odometer once back in Maryland. No problems, mon.

Tom F.
