They were still birkering on who was going to build the Hector when I lived there - so I haven't personally seen the ship yet. As I am not a MacSoandso I don't have much interest in that silly little ship.
My parents are in New Brunswick in the summer running their Bed and Breakfast called Sandpipers' Rest which is close to Mary;s Point and go to BC in the winter for my mum's teaching job... best of both worlds for them. Yeah, the Cabot trail is pretty nice. Have you driven the Ice Fields Parkway between Jasper and Banff in Alberta - totally beautiful there too! I still have to do Oregon. One of the best undeveloped drives is from Barkerville to Likely via the Cariboo Mountain chain. Nice slow driving through 2500m mountains, lush cedar valleys that rival the ones on Vancouver Island, crystal clear mountain fed streams with great fishing... that's where we were last weekend!
