I would scrounge up all those metal plates from somewhere and put them
back in. Also, get new lock washers. They are intended for one-time use
only.
I did a safety wire routine on 68 bus one time when the bolts worked
loose. Drilled throught the bolt heads sideways, then after installation
and rorquing down, I put air craft safety wire through the bolt heads in
a tightening direction. Never had another bolt come loose -- until my
current van - an 88 GL. Had three bolts come loose after a repair. It
was at that point I started doing my own CV work. I figured the mechanic
that worked on it before didn't torque the things correctly. Had no
trouble since I retorqued. I prol'ly won't saftey wire the 88 simply
becasue the bolts in the trailing arms are so hard to get to. Use
loctite there.
