Subject: WBX Carb conversion? Hoax!

After this thread last week, I ordered one of these Weber K297 kits to use on an 84 1.9 WBX engine. It does not fit, no way no how. While even the Weber site lists it as working with the early watercooled as well as the aircooled Vanagons and earlier Type 4 motors, it does not. The manifold adapter in the kit does not line up with the manifold runners of the 1.9. Not the same size holes, not the right hole spacing. The WBX runners are 1" closer together than the kit is set up for. Sigh.

On watercooled engines, the manifold air box comes off the intake and is replaced with the supplied adapter plate. Then you bolt the carb to the adapter plate. > > Voila! > > Mark Drillock <mdrillock@COX.NET> wrote: > Unfortunately, the required intake manifold is not included in the so > called kit.
