Also: ETKA = Elektronischer Teilekatalog (Electronic Spare Parts Catalogue)

Then inhale this ;-) :

ETKA is the electronics parts catalog for Volkswagens. This program is used by the VW Dealerships all over the world. Up until several years ago, VW dealerships relied on microfiche plates, but this mode was becoming outdated. In fact so much outdated, VW was really behind the times compared with the rest of the automotive industry. GM, Ford and Chrysler were all using GUI (Graphical User Interface) based computer catalogs as early as the late 80's, at least here in the USA.

ETKA comes in handy when looking up the original part numbers and the parts explosion diagrams that help in servicing "the beast". It covers almost every model VW & Audi except Type 2 models thru 1967.

Technically speaking, the copies floating around these days are actually "bootlegged" from an original copy from a dealership, hence illegal. So they are not overtly advertised or VW and the software writer comes back at ya with a vengeance.

Program runs only in Windows (98, 98SE, Me, 2000, XP). Not for the Mac. 1280x1024 screen resolution required.

You may now exhale ;-) -- Jim Thompson 84 Westfalia 2.1 "Ole Putt" 73 K Ghia Coupe "Denise" 72 411 Station Wagon "Pug" oldvolkshome@gmail.com http://www.oldvolkshome.com ********************************** On 8/24/06, Marion Lathem <resiolute@copper.net> wrote: > > On a chance of coming off dumb as rope...what is ETKA...a software > program I guess..?
