What a bummer!

If I were you I'd call Shane and Eddie at The Bug Shop and ask them about
your situation. They are the top shop in BC for VW boxer motors and have
more experience than all the rest combined. Many shops drop the motor and
send it to the Bug Shop.
They are usually in on Saturdays, although if they're super busy they may
not answer the phone on Saturday.

I almost took our Golf to Auto Folks for a clutch, quite a few years ago,
but ended up getting the work done elsewhere for reasons I can no longer
remember.      :-)
