Okay, I have installed Sirius in my Westy and installed XM (no taste) in a friends Westy. She did not like the way I did mine, so there are two installations I can tell you about.

Mine, I installed the receiver ( this is an addon receiver, not RF) inside the ceter cover under the radio. I ran the antenna wire under the carpet, back by the parking brake cable, over to the side wall. I ran the antenna wire up the side and through the package shelf end. Then I ran the wire up the left tubes and over to a centre point just behind the latch on top. I drilled a hole just big enough to let the connector through. I then mounted the antenna on the rubber seal with RTV. This was the antenna works both up and down. You want to make a stress loop where the antenna wire will have to bend when you close the top. I can send pix tomorrow if you like.

The second option is to run the wire up the drivers side and outside to the drivers side door frame. Remove the screw on the luggage rack, just above the drivers door. Install a steel 'L' bracket with the screw and then use the magnetic base to hold it in place.

Both work fine.

Hope this works.

The installation instructions that came with my radio are obviously aimed at a regular car. It says to mount the antenna on the back of the roof, and pass the cord through the trunk into the body of the vehicle, up to the front, where the radio is mounted. They seem to think the positioning of this in the rear is really key to having it work right. But popping the top would interfere with that careful placement, so Iım wondering if anyone has tried putting the antenna for a satellite radio on the front of the pop top?
