I appreciate everyone's responses to my skylight problem. Most people mentioned the silicone. I did the silicone everywhere to the point of overkill. There're no cracks and no holes on the skylight or anywhere near it. It really only leaks at the corners and not as much as my previous cracked-to-hell skylight. I'm not sure who the "skylight guy" is (does he work for GoWesty?), but what I have is a skylight, also known as the roof vent, I believe. Everyone else seemed to understand. To be honest, I didn't really understand what that guy was saying. As I mentioned, I'm in Guatemala right now and it's rainy season, and now is actually the sub-season of hurricanes. While I haven't been in any hurricanes, I have been in some serious rains, and it is possible that the rain is simply piling up too high. When it was leaking, I was also on an ever-so-slight incline, which I'm sure didn't help. Smaller rains since then haven't shown as much leaking. I guess I was mainly wondering if someone had come up with a creative fix or reinforcement, or if someone could recommend a thicker seal. This one seems smaller than the original, which perhaps I should have left on. Also, to be clear, my intention was not simply to complain about GoWesty. Though I might have complaints, on the whole, I'm glad they're around. Just as a heads up, I will probably post again soon regarding an erratic idling problem that I haven't been able to solve. Until then, many thanks, Joshua |
