being an architect I am not too big of a fan of bubble insulation. yes it works, but I would be very surprised if it comes anywhere close to closed cell polyethylene foam. try leaving your closed cell camping pad at home and sleep outdoors on bubble wrap------- brrrrrrrrrrrrbrrrr. but this thinking led me to the solution of the problem for me. camping pads are closed cell polyethylene, and you can get them on amazon in 72"x20"x.4" for $6.50, free shipping. choice of blue or black. this stuff is identical to european rv insulation like reimo sells.

so what i am doing now is a base layer of fatmat and then two layers of camping pad on top. need to find an adhesive though. the only other thing i want to check out is that foilastic stuff. seems to me the same as fatmat basically. anyone found a source?
