My SO managed to shut the sliding door on my almost new Motomaster 200w invertor the other night, crushing the plug that goes in the lighter socket. Phooey. It came with two detachable cables, one for the lighter and one going straight to the battery.

I called Xantrex (the company that makes them) which sounds a lot like the heartburn medication I was on and they sell a replacement cable for $25US including shipping, and it takes 2-3 weeks. I only paid $40 for the entire unit new.

Does anybody know if there is a generic replacement, and even better if its available retail in Canada?

Jeff, first off I would strongly advise you to forget the lighter plug adapter and connect your inverter directly to the battery. You will get much better performance. The problem with using the lighter plug socket on the Vanagon is first the plug you are putting in is probably loose as the size is not to European dimensions and secondly the wiring to the lighter plug is too small of a gauge to handle the current draw you may subject it to. If you "REALLY" want your lighter socket plug back you can buy lighter plug replacements at Canadian Tire or any good auto parts and just connect it on the end of the wire you have.

Cheers,
