VW did not -figure- that it was smarter, this is the standard for any european vehicle (in europe at least). I, for example, by far prefer it this way and would haul logs to change any american car to this system. having grown up with the eurospec, I lock myself out constantly! plus, you anyway have the key in your hand as you take it off the ignition..... flo
