Hmm, I wonder where you were in your trek...... On Labor Day I was driving back from my WV place and decided to do a little round-a-bout trip. I drove north along the valley (not a single name, but essentially the valley that exists at the base of the Allegheny Front.) Eventually getting to Cumberland, Maryland. In Cumberland I took I-68 east to Hancock (a previous weekend I'd been exploring Scenic 40 and MD 144 the old National Pike, so I didn't feel obligate to do that this time.) In Hancock I got on I-70, and hit the normal backup. So I got off at exit 5, and hit a few more backroads before getting on US 40 again. One of those back roads (Slabtown Road) had a ford across what I believe to be Licking Creek. I didn't know about that ford. About 12-16 inches deep and maybe 100 feet across. Definitely got the underside of my Syncro wet. |
