it was brought to my attention by a long time listmember that it wasnt in good form to post how to enter a vanagon without keys, to the whole forum. my apoligies to anyone who was offended by that.. it was not meant to be a "how to break into a vanagon" post.. just merely a tip on getting into your van if you dont have any keys or if youve locked yourself out. this all has been posted on the vanagon list before, check the archives.. its nothing new.. i learned about it from a past posting yrs ago.. hopefully there arent deviant folks on this list who are the types who would commit a crime.. i had to use the aforementioned trick a few yrs ago when i locked myself out of the van (went into my locked van via the slider door to change clothes, then pushed the slider door lock tab down and slammed the slider door shut and realized i had left my keys in my other pants pocket which was still in the van) anyway it saved me from breaking the front vent window... didnt mean anything in bad taste - matt pollard had inquired about to remove the ignition from the housing..and the easiest way to get it out is to drill that little acess hole.. anyway, this is a closed list now.. if it was an open list like it used to be, id be worried but.. everyone here is a vanagon owner.. point is taken though..and posting the two tips together may have been in bad form, even though it doesnt take much to figure that out.. once again i apologise.. hopefully there arent any bad folks here on the list who would use the information in a deviant way, it was merely meant to be a informative tip if someone was ever in that situation. chris |
