Hey. Just put a new (used.....yes I got lucky) boot in my 81 AC. I used ....... "walking out to van....." "Permatex Red Hi-Temp Silicone" Adhesive Sealant. Cracks were inbetween ribs on mine. I cleaned an area larger than that of crack, and filled that area up to to top of ribs. If that makes sense. I found it useful to *carefully* bend the boot in different directions to see if more cracks were on their way. In fact I found one more than what was obvious. Cheers.
