Electrical tape is horrible stuff. The glue weakens over time and it
just unwinds. Skip using that. However there is another material that
is a much better product. It's called fusion tape. You PULL it and
then wrap it around the wire. It fuses to itself and becomes
essentially a homogenous material much better than electrical tape.

There are also brush on insulations. I've not tried those.
