I am driving an aircooled 81 westy right now and love every second of it. The stock heat, when everything is in proper working order, works quite well actually. Just waiting for it to get up to temp makes it a little lacking.

Thankfully my model came with a BA6 ESPAR heater and that thing just CRANKS out the heat, instantly. I had it in one full Minneapolis winter and drove it every day, no problems at all. The heater was up to temp in just 5 minutes of warmup.

My van has 190,000 miles on it now. The transmission was replaced a year ago and I to installed a rebuilt AVP motor into it just this year, now with only 800 miles on it (and that motor has been awsesome so far, despite the 'more money than you' club members that insist on nothing less than a $5,000+ solution.)

As for why someone can't get rid of their rust-free aircooled for only $2500? Im guessing they haven't posted it as being for sale on thesamba.com yet or haven't put much effort into actually getting rid of it. (or it really isn't all that nice and they are expecting way too much for it.)
