The jack in the pic does not look to have an adapter to fit Vanagons. If you are in the Syncro List, You will find amples details about this in the archives. There are also pics of the Land Rover adapter which can be made to fit the Vanagon jackholes. There are pics of homemade adapters.

I bought a my Hi-Lift via my local Craigslist for $20 & $30. There seems to always me someone selling them. Lots of Jeepsters and Safari Landy wannabes buy them just for "the look". Both of the ones I bought were unused.
