Hi,

I have a Jack-All (which is very much like the high-lift) that I use on my van. I modified it by having the part that goes into the jack point on the stock jack cut off and welded to bracket that then fits over (and is bolted) to the Jack-All.

I would say you DO have to do this modification otherwise the high- lift will rub and scrape against van body when in use. The high-lift type jack makes the stock jack look like a toy, its much much better.

This kind of modification to jacks is not my idea, The Land Rover crowd do it, Google it!

Alistair (just back from road trip where i did use jack to even up van when camped)

since the '85 model year Vanagons have got the highest ground height clearance of any year 2wd vanagons, and now my '85 Doka is riding on 215 75 16" tires/wheels (thats right - on a 2wd '85 with NO suspension mods and stock shocks/stock springs...and there is NO rubbing) i really need a jack that will lift the van as the stock jack doesnt cut it anymore.. i was thinking about Van-Cafe's 48" hi-lift jack:

anyone have any experience with it? who makes it? and does it fit into the stock jack holes as well as the OEM jack?

TIA.. chris
