I'm not sure how much of a problem this is since I drive a weekender (MV) van, but I drove a van with this mod for 2 weeks in some windy conditions and never lost the flame. John, hate to rain on your parade but if the fridge propane fire blows out while driving there is a problem with the fridge that should be repaired. If the Dometic fridge that's installed in the Vanagon Westfalia is operating as it was designed the fire will not blow out. I have driven many, many kilometres over the past 12 years and the fridge fire does not blow out unless there is a problem that needs repaired. Some of the most common causes are leaks in the intake - exhaust - fire box system, flue vents on the side of the van improperly installed, and the propane service not operating correctly. Bandaid solutions to circumvent proper repair is not advisable.
