All the parts from the A-pillar back, are the same as any Beetle. The Super Beetle makes an excellent daily driver as it has MacPherson struts and unlike the Beetle, drives like a normal car and there is plenty of space in the hood to store stuff. VW Beetle purists may not appreciate the VW Super Beetle (1302/1303) as much as there were several changes which detract from the "beetle experience" (eg rounded windshield, plastic dash, bigger hood, etc). The plus side of this is that they go for lower prices generally. Optionally, they did come with air conditioning. Which is why there are vent holes below all Super Beetles (condensor). One thing to look out for is the strut towers, if there is any rust around there, walk away as it is a deathtrap. This is important, as the Super Beetle relies on it's front suspension strength. Also, while you can find parts for them, the unique front-end stuff makes it more expensive. Best of luck. IMO there are the best Beetles as far as every day commuting is concerned. I have a couple old air cooled engines available to me as well, so I have lots of engine parts and stuff to go thru. Been sitting for years...though its a Florida vehicle so I don't think the pan is going to be too much of a concern... What are some of the things I need to consider on whether or not to embark upon this project? Are parts easier to get for these little beasts? I am considering dumping a newer vehicle I have in its stead (creature comforts, who needs em) Is it practical to consider one of these a daily driver? Any random thoughts of how stupid I am are welcome :-) -- Dave - KC9FYM http://fjazzbass.blogspot.com
