Here's an easy way to make curtain rods for a vanagon. I went to Home Depot and bought lengths of the aluminum material for making window screens. It's inexpensive, is easily worked, and it quite adequate for the job. I removed the knobs VW installed on the inside of the van and bought longer sheet metal screws to use to remount the knobs with the frame between the knob and the wall of the van. Cut the frame material to length and drill slightly larger holes in each end in order to mount the piece. On a couple of the knobs I used .25" nuts as spacers between the frame and wall of the van to allow enough clearance for the curtains. For in back of the front seats and for the sliding door I cut the screen frame material and drilled a hole on each end. Wire wraps work well to hang those 2 sections. It's great having a set of curtains in the van for camping.

This may seem like an elementary question but here goes anyway. I have never had curtains in my bus - so the GF recently purchase material and I am wondering the best way to mount the darn things in the van? Any and all sugestions welcome. -- Thanks, Jeff 86' 85' GL (sidelined and donating organs to the 86') |
