The heater element in a heated O2 sensor draws high current when cold, but tapers off when hot. The accepted method is to wire in parallel with the fuel pump 12V. It won't take anything away from the pump after warm-up. -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Geza Polony Sent: Thursday, September 07, 2006 10:51 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Re: O2 Sensor Idea (long) Good responses all.
OK, so what I'm hearing is, don't mess with the O2 sensor voltage--but install a heated sensor. Maybe not perfect, but better than the unheated variety. What would you attach the heating element wire to? Maybe the coil? Or given the resistance, maybe run another circuit altogether? Anybody done this? Seems to me, also, that there are more posts here regarding 02 sensors during the winter months than in the summer. Possible further confirmation of the heating problem? |
