Hey all.
Thanks for replies to brake lining cleaning question.
Pretty cool (no reverse pun intended) that lightin'
them up is one way to go.
Decided to get all new shoes and drums though.
Old drums have smoothed grooves like they were scored
but someone didn't bother turning them, and just
installed new shoes. Old shoes were less than 50%, so
away with them all! I even put new e-brake cables in.
WooHoo!
Was an interesting job. Haven't done any kind of brake
work in some time. Next time I'll be faster at it
though. ----- ;^)
And FWIW, banging on rim of the totaly stuck drum with
a small sledge ( I choked down a little on handle) did
the trick. Banging on face, or liquid wrench and heat
may have helped, but simply banging down on top (rim)
and rotating drum as I did this, did the trick for me.
Thanks again!
Neil.
