OK, then, how many _washtub_ bass players on the list? The classic model would be the perfect travel bass-- breaks down for stowage, needs no electricity, fits in with the strummers and plunkers you typically find in campgrounds, and you can pack your flashlight, sox, paper towels and potato chips in it when you hit the road. Some are more sophisticated than others, though.
