FWIW I use a dutch oven trivet/stand from a camping store to bridge the gap in the westfalia stovetop. It's designed to keep the dutch oven (basically a cast iron pot) slightly above the hot coals of a campfire. It's a "stand" of sorts about an inch and a half high and I use it over the Westfalia grill to create a nice spot to rest a pot. I got mine at Campmor in NJ, but a lot of camping stores have them and they can't be more than a few dollars.

The stand kind of fits through the grill work on the stove top. The catch is since it rests on the stainless stove top it could scratch that surface--so maybe the "VW" grill attachment is better if they're still around.

As for perculated coffee, I've always been afraid it used too much propane. Although having said that I've never run out of propane. But in the art of saving fuel I've always gone for the cone filter method.

The only thing I don't love is it sits precariously on 3 of the for prongs over the flame. Anyone know how to get a hold of those westfalia stove grates shaped like a VW emblem that whatshisname was selling a few years back? I didn't have the $$ to get a pair then, but would still love to have them. As I recall he got a "cease and desist" letter from mother VW for making them.
