It's been a long time since I messed with that rod. As I recall it's a metal rod with each end bent 90º. One end attaches to the gas pedal and the other to a lever or cam that the throttle cable attaches to. You push down the gas pedal, the rod moves the cam and the throttle cable gets pulled. You should be able to make one with a rod and then bend the ends to match the original. Heat would help with the bending.
