I've been told that an '85+ slider door WILL fit on an earlier van, if
the latching pin & mounting plate on the rear edge of the door jam is
also transferred (welded) to the recipient.  Can anyone verify this?
I'm not saying that this is the easiest way to add the lock actuator...
