It all depends on your idea of a lot of force. ;^)

I get my finger(s) in recesses pull toward me, then lift up. You want to depress the latches, then lift up. It kinda pops up.

On my cluster, I found a PILE of yellow rag bits stuffed under speedo. Turns out all but one of the screws holding speedo onto back of cluster, had nowhere to thread into. The plastic for threads was broken. I fixed but.....

If yours is really stuck, then who knows. Maybe your vans cluster housing doesn't stay on properly and was re-enforced with something like an "L" bracket. Have a look around.

You just never know what someone else may have done.
