Re: timing.

If van already running ok, take off dist.cap and turn engine til rotor is lined up w/#1 mark on rim of dist. The timing mark on pulley should be located somewere near correct timing mark on stationary plastic timing scale. If you can't see timing mark on pulley, feel for a small mark on pulley (on outer edge of pulley toward front of van). On mine it was a *small* notch. Kinda hard to feel. Mark this and correct timing mark on timing scale w/white paint dot.

Static timing is useful for testing to see if engine runs after installing tuneup parts, but for sure you have to set timing correctly with a timing light.
