Subject: 2.1l: hesitation

Hi,

I brought this up a few months ago, then went abroad, didnt work on it forever, but now its sooooo bad:

fact is, the engine is super hesitant below 2000rpm. this does not always happen, but about 50% of the time. Its a manual trans, and I can only get going if i first rev the engine to 3k rpm before engaging the clutch.... on really bad days I cannot even rev in neutral. the other week i was in first gear at around 1300rpm and floored the pedal, and nothing happened for about one minute. then it jumped like crazy and was fine for an hour.

Last time I brought this up some people recommended checking the injectors. I just did, and while I have to say that this is the first time I checked injectors, they seemed fine and even to me. What else can I do? There is a K&N air filter in the system, installed by the PO. Could it be dirty? would that cause it? how can i clean it? Or could it be something as simple as the accelerator cable?

I would be greatful if someone had an idea.

Flo
