it depends on which model it is. 85 -91 westys with the rear hatch panels that have the plastic clip heads hidden under the vinyl, are a breeze to remove. just use a "pigeon toe" doorpanel clip remover.. looks like a flat bladed prybar with a fork in the foot. insert fork around clip and pry up. might want to used a rag to keep from scratching the paint around the perimeter of the hatch panel. 80-84 westys have exposed heads,but the clips are different than the 85-91 clips and you can actually remove the clips and save them.. on the passenger vans and carats, with the exposed head clips are a PITA. on passenger vans and the wolfsburg and carat with the hatch panels with the exposed head clips -forget it. just snip the heads off with wire cutter snips. if you try prying them out, you'll damage the hatch panel. the clips are a one-time-use only deal so dont bother trying to save them.. try prying one out and see what happens... chris |
