Yeah, but you didn't figure in the price of gas in Labrador this summer! When I was there - in Red Bay, not the far north - $6 (US) a gallon! OUCH! Oh, yes, and the price of all those Newfoundland and Labrador ferries, they take a big bite too...
Paul, it sounds like you did pretty much the trip I want to do next summer - except that I want to get back to St. John's too.
It also like we were scooting around the Labrador coast and Newfoundland at the exact same time this summer - we should have run into each other! At least the southern Labrador coast, the Great Northern Pen, Gros Morne, etc. I took the ferry to Argentia and went to St. John's and various places in eastern Newfoundland before I headed west - then visited Gros Morne, went up to St. Barbe to take the ferry to Labrador, then returned and went to L'Anse aux Meadows, St. Anthony's, then headed back down for more time in Gros Morne. We have lots of the same photos, too! Did you climb the hill overlooking St. Anthony's when you were there? 470-odd steps up, and a splendid view of the town and the harbor from the top. I passed on the Norseman restaurant - traveling alone, I couldn't see going out for a $50 dinner! Did you go to Tablelands and Woody Point?
My website has a lot about Newfoundland too, though I'm behind, and still haven't gotten the part about western Newfoundland and Labrador up yet. I loved Newfoundland - really want to spend more time there. Next summer...
